Launching Our New Label & First Sparkling Wine
Here it is! Our NEW LABEL on our very first bottle of sparkling wine. We couldn’t think of a better way to launch the new design than on a bottle of bubbly.
General manager, and founding viticulturist, Nick Gill says the design signals a new chapter for Greystone and emphasises their commitment to organics.
“When we released our first labelled Greystone wines in 2007 we were based out of a contract winery and only producing enough grapes to fill two barrels. As our vines grew, our production began to increase and in 2014 we made the formative decision to convert our 33-hectare conventional vineyard to organic. In 2018 our entire vineyard and range of wines were finally certified organic. We believe our new label reflects our company’s evolution and underlines our commitment to organic winemaking,” said Nick Gill.
Arch Macdonnell, co-owner of the award-winning design agency, Inhouse, says the label is a nod to the old and celebration of the new.
“Our concepts for the Greystone wordmark have been built from a specific style of lettering that developed out of traditional stone carving practice. Much like a well-made wine, this style has evolved over time, and has come to represent a sense of elegance and timelessness. Each character is unique in its own expression, and designed to be easily read, and as part of a set. The new label takes traditional and historical influences into a contemporary context,” said Arch.
General manager of marketing and sales, Nik Mavromatis, adds the timing was perfect to launch the new look on their first ever sparkling wine.
“We’ve been wanting to add a sparkling wine to our range for the longest time. It’s the perfect companion to a special event. With its origin in France, Pétillant Naturel is an ancient method of making sparkling wine, which dates back further than Champagne. The wine is bottled prior to fully completing its first fermentation, allowing carbon dioxide to be produced by the natural sugars found in the grapes. This wine is zesty with a long crisp finish, has no added sulphur , is unfined, unfiltered and bottled on site.”
